To recognize the bicentenary of Darwin’s birth and the 150th anniversary of the publication of “On the Origin of Species,” the Friends of the San Francisco Library was tasked with creating a website to catalog the events happening throughout the Bay Area in 2009.

I started by wire-framing the sections of the site and organizing the required data. Using a logo and tree image provided by another designer I created an earth-toned color palette and began design explorations.

Once the design was approved, I built the CSS/XHTML structure of the site and integrated it into the PHP-based content management system, Textpattern, providing an easy way for the client to update the site with new images and text.
